Taking a pic of a hummingbird is not easy... I'm really happy with the outcome.

Don't stop me now! 10/18-10/25 (Sara)

It has been a while since our last posting, and to help with jumpstarting our once dead club, Pere has chosen a topic that is basically to take a picture and post whatever you want.

I tried to find a way in which I would want to take pictures frequently, and finally, I put the 50 on my camera (it's so much lighter) and stuck it in my purse (instead of my camera bag, which is bulky).

I discovered that our office building has a great view of the horizon without any buildings in the way. You can even see part of DC if you squint kind of hard (I've been told you can see the monument, but I still have yet to see it). In this picture, you can kiiiind of see the national cathedral poking out of the horizon (hint: it's the only thing poking out of the horizon):

I love the skinny little cloud in this one.

Camera Phone 8/30 - 9/6 (Mel)

My favorite labor day weekend activity

Camera Phone 8/30 - 9/6 (Sara)

I was roaming around my old college this past weekend, trying to figure out the roads all over again, and noticed that this view from a particular higher neighborhood was an amazing sunset watching location. My camera battery from my T2i was dying, so luckily I remembered our topic this week was camera phones:

Camera Phone 8/30 - 9/6 (Jaime)

I was watering my lawn last week and noticed there was a spider web on the grass. When i sprayed it with water, instead of breaking down, this happened:

I thought it was pretty cool, so i captured it with my phone.

Motion Blur 8/9 - 8/15 (Sara)

I haven't posted in a few weeks! My bad... Anyway, I was mountain biking with Josh today, and I wanted to try out taking pictures while riding on my bike. However, after I crashed and my bike intertwined with some branches, I decided to stop. Here's my favorite:

Motion Blur 8/9 - 8/15 (Jaime)

I took these pics last month during our vacation, but they fit perfectly for this week's theme so I decided to post them. I put my camera on a wooden fence right next to the little (artificial) stream in Disneyland.

Here's a close-up:

Bubbles 7/26-8/8 (Mel)

I bought Catnip infused bubbles in hopes that Kato would do something cute but he didn't. He just stared.

Bubbles (9)

I like Kato's face reflected in the bubble though.

Fire 07/12 - 07/18 (Josh)

Originally I thought of doing an awesome sunset picture that made the sky look like it was on FIRE. However we already had done sunset as the first idea of MicroTography, so to not repeat myself, I decided to do something a little more conventional.

A conventional oven that is! hehe Ok, ok, so growing up we always had electric ovens, and the one we current have at our house has these cool even flames breathing out. I captured two shots that I liked.

The yellowish-orangish flash on the right was that the flames floating on the top of the oven while set on broil would hit something flamable and flash as it burn out the energy. I stared for awhile to grab one.

Here I did more of an angle, which made it very reminiscent of a bird or plane with the glow of the oven light illuminating it as the sun rises.

Fire 07/12 - 07/18 (Mel)

I was out of ideas and decided to take a pic of a candle.
I liked this one in which I am blowing in the candle an instant before it died

Fire 07/12 - 07/18 (Pere)

Literally, Fire.

Campfire we had going whilst camping. I like how sharp the picture came out although there was hardly any light.

Group 07/05 - 07/11 (Jaime)

We took the kids to Disneyland this past week, and right before we left i took this shot as I saw thousands of people walking down main street on the way to the exit.

Group 07/05 - 07/11 (Pere)

Group of shells we found in the beach, we did not arrange them, someone else went through the trouble for us

Group 07/05 - 07/11 (Sara)

My friend recently got married and had these little topiaries as table card holders. I thought they were too cute, so I ended up taking 10 of them... hehe :) I don't really use them... but I'm holding out for a reason.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Jaime)

This is a picture of the kid's baseball bat after playing outside.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Josh)

As you may have heard, I just moved to Reston with fellow MicroTographer, Sara Lee.

When we first came and looked at this place the Realtor told us that it seems like one of the other Realtors had opened the glass patio door and then left it open for a few days, potentially even weeks. Well, this meant that of course some bugs made their way in, and as a bug's life goes, died shortly thereafter.

Hence the theme of my photo. So I gathered up three different types of bugs and quickly arranged them. I like this one because the center bug is in a perfect angle to show the little extremities frozen into the sky. As dead as it gets.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Sara)

Better late than never!

For my 'on the ground' picture, I noticed Miso being ultra cute while sitting on the ground, and used the 'live view' function on my camera to take this picture.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Pere)

Another vacation another 100 or so pictures of animals... it seems we are becoming quite wild reporters Maraea and I :D

We took a few from the ground, literally, partly because we were in the beach we couldn’t bother to stand up to take the pictures partly to full fill this week’s theme.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Mel)

In my trip to Japan, I spent a night in a Ryokan (Traditional Japanese style hotel) and we had Tatami floors.

I decided I want tatami floors in my house.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Jaime)

Summer = Water/Pool.. so I represented this via "Pool Shark".

I know I've been lagging on my posts, so I'm going to try to make up for this.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Josh)

Sorry, but with vacation and moving, I keep forgetting to get my pics together! But now that I'm back on track, I should be good to go!

So, backtracking a little bit, when I think of summer, the first thing that comes to mind is the 4th of July. It represents when people turn into the most summer-ish as possible with flippy-floppies, grilling, the beach, and last but not least, fireworks.

For the 5 years, my friends and I from college have rented a house in Bethany Beach, DE for the week of 4th of July. It's filled with the things above, and therefore I'd like to give a few shots that I was able to gather up this year:

My old roommate Anthony and his wife Naomi during the fireworks on the beach:

The iconical clock on the boardwalk at Bethany Beach:

This year I noticed that it seems like the seagulls have made the top of the clock also the designated toilet.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Pere)

To me summer in Virgina is crazy rains and awesome storm clouds with the sunset in the background....

When I think of summer, I think of a few things:

Flowers

Dogs

Being able to leave the office and catching the sunset:

and the softball:

PS. ISO6400 is incredible with the sun goes down.

Frames May 05/31 - 06/06 (Sara)

I don't know whether the interest is dwindling in photography or if this topic was just really hard.. Even mine is really late, but it's okay!

Anyway, I had taken a picture, but I like this one better. My friend since middle school just recently got married and I had the honor of being in her wedding. Of course that means I couldn't take pictures, but Jeff did a good job taking what he could (I asked him to take a shot of them hugging the parents, and kissing). I was going to crop out the heads of this picture, but I like how they are framing Tinah & Tom (the head on the far right is a little too close but whatever):

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Josh)

I went to Puerto Rico for an extended Memorial Day weekend for a quick vacation. One thing I forgot to check beforehand and that we then found out was that it's currently the rainy season. Luckily our activities didn't exist around nice weather.

However, the two times that we walked around Old Town San Juan it wouldn't stop raining and thunder-storming. This ended up giving me some cool skies to work with, as in this one taken in one of the numerous park squares scattered throughout the fortified old city.

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Sara)

I usually love taking black and white pictures! I don't know what happened these past 2 weeks, but I may end up editing this post later on in the week. Anyway, this past weekend, I was running, and it was so hot that I ended up getting easily distracted by numerous things. One thing that distracted me was this enormous dandelion looking plant

I wish I could have taken a better picture of it because it was enooooormous (the fuzzy part was like 3 of my fists) but I only had my iphone w/ me because who wants to carry an 8 lbs weight when running in 90 degree weather? Anyway, I might go back and take a walk w/ my camera to get this big boy again... :)

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Pere)

Last night whilst watching the Lakers game, Maraea and I noticed that outside we had a bit of a show in the form of an electric storm. We decided to put the tripod up and try some luck...

It took many attempts and a few "Ohhhh almost!"

But we finally caught one!

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Jaime)

I've been taking pictures around the house now that we are in "decorating mode". I liked this one when I turned it into B&W.
