Don't stop me now! 10/18 - 10/25 (Jaime)

I guess i need some vacation time to be ableto catch up here... so here are a couple of pics I took yesterday.

Taking a pic of a hummingbird is not easy... I'm really happy with the outcome.

This is during "Fantasmic" on our trip to Disney.

Can you spot Mickey Mouse?

Group 07/05 - 07/11 (Jaime)

We took the kids to Disneyland this past week, and right before we left i took this shot as I saw thousands of people walking down main street on the way to the exit.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Jaime)

This is a picture of the kid's baseball bat after playing outside.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Jaime)

Summer = Water/Pool.. so I represented this via "Pool Shark".

I know I've been lagging on my posts, so I'm going to try to make up for this.

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Jaime)

I've been taking pictures around the house now that we are in "decorating mode". I liked this one when I turned it into B&W.

Office 05/03 - 05/09 (Jaime)

Considering that I'm going to be busy this weekend I wanted to get my submission in early.
Aside from "Michael Scott", this is what i think off when i hear office...

Can you believe I've had this exact same phone for the last 10 years?

Trees 04/26 - 05/02 (Jaime)

Being homeless this past weekend, we stayed with some friends out in Hamilton, VA (near WV). There were plenty of trees around, and i picked the following two to showcase:

The last one is on top of a hill, so it looks pretty cool, and kind of creepy in the winter when it has no leaves.

Spoons 04/19 - 04/25 (Jaime)

Sorry I haven't posted in the last couple of weeks. Getting ready for yesterday's move was taking up all of my time.
It was a very busy day yesterday, the movers came at 9 am and left at 9 pm. We now live in an empty house until Thursday and then we're homeless for a week.
You may be asking, what does this have to do with spoons? Well, the movers took everything, so this is what we were left with for breakfast this morning:

Plastic spoons for a week!

Spring 03/29 - 04/04 (Jaime)

I hate to sound like a broken record, but here's another pic of a spring flower! :)

Spring

I don't believe this one is a cherry blossom, i found it in the sculpture garden next to the Natural History Museum.

Enjoy!

Health 03/22 - 03/28 (Jaime)

I think health is very well represented in sports/physical activities. I attended one of Vanessa's ballet classes this past week and got this cool picture of her doing a jump.

Self-Portrait 03/08 - 03/14 (Jaime)

Self portrait is a very interesting topic, not only do you need to capture yourself in a photograph, but you also need to capture your personality, which is the tough part.
Most of you that have known me for a while now, know that I don't take too many things seriously and pretty much like to be happy all the time, so that's what I tried to capture here.

I used my camera's remote, and surprisingly, it only took me 4 tries to get it the way I wanted. This was fun. I also uploaded the other attempts, which ended up showing a cool sequence, even though it was a new attempt every time.

Light 03/01 - 03/07 (Jaime)

So i decided to use a model this time and little Jaime graciously accepted. I thought he was not going to be able to sit still during this (see caffeine topic), but he actually was great while we were doing this.

[Original]

I just had him sit down on the couch, then I grabbed a floor light and put it between him and the book to give the impression that the book was illuminating him. All the post processing i did was to bring down the yellows.

Here are a few others from our photo session.

Sin 02/19 -02/28 (Jaime)

Mmmmm chocolate!

DSC_1056_2

Blanca and I went to the Chocolates Galore and More event in Loudoun this past weekend.

Talk about sin. The pic above is from one of 3 chocolate fountains we saw. I like how you can clearly see the smooth texture of the chocolate as it comes down the fountain. The best part? It tasted better than it looked.

Here are a few others that will surely make you diabetic. Jeff, please use caution.

Reflection 02/12 - 02/18 (Jaime)

I really love this topic, unfortunately, I did not have enough time this week to do what I had in mind, but I'm still happy with the result of what I could do.

This is a view of driving on the toll road reflected off of sunglasses, reflected off of the rear view mirror...

Also, here are a few other reflection pictures that I've taken.

This one is my favorite.

Blackout 02/05 - 02/11 (Jaime)

So i didn't exactly know what Josh meant by blackout, so I'm doing the first thing that came to mind when i saw this and saw the snow coming.

DSC_0933

I really like the contrast between the white snow and the black background at night. When i did the negative version of this, i found it really cool how it brings out a lot more detail that you can't see easily in the original (like the branches underneath the trees).

Here are a few other pics with their negatives.

Caffeine 01/22 - 02/04 (Jaime)

I had a very similar idea to Josh, but I wanted to use my kids as models for this. Specifically, little Jaime, who to me, is the human representation of caffeine (as many 5 yeard olds are).

Original here

I caught him doing his daily run this morning trying to tackle me.

Here are a few other shots. [1] [2] [3]

Sunrise - 01/14 - 01/21 (Jaime)

I decided to do a sunrise, i call these "Suburban Sunrise".

It was also my first attempt at HDR, for which I think i failed.

The first picture, is a merge of -2 to +2 exposure and I did not change anything else.

The second, is a merge of about 5 images and then playing around with the saturation and contrast to get it closer to what I was actually seeing, which was a purple/orange/pink sunrise (which Vanessa loved).

At least I'm getting bonus points for a sunrise, right?

Jaime.
