On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Josh)

As you may have heard, I just moved to Reston with fellow MicroTographer, Sara Lee.

When we first came and looked at this place the Realtor told us that it seems like one of the other Realtors had opened the glass patio door and then left it open for a few days, potentially even weeks. Well, this meant that of course some bugs made their way in, and as a bug's life goes, died shortly thereafter.

Hence the theme of my photo. So I gathered up three different types of bugs and quickly arranged them. I like this one because the center bug is in a perfect angle to show the little extremities frozen into the sky. As dead as it gets.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Sara)

Better late than never!

For my 'on the ground' picture, I noticed Miso being ultra cute while sitting on the ground, and used the 'live view' function on my camera to take this picture.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Pere)

Another vacation another 100 or so pictures of animals... it seems we are becoming quite wild reporters Maraea and I :D

We took a few from the ground, literally, partly because we were in the beach we couldn’t bother to stand up to take the pictures partly to full fill this week’s theme.

On the Ground 06/28 - 07/04 (Mel)

In my trip to Japan, I spent a night in a Ryokan (Traditional Japanese style hotel) and we had Tatami floors.

I decided I want tatami floors in my house.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Jaime)

Summer = Water/Pool.. so I represented this via "Pool Shark".

I know I've been lagging on my posts, so I'm going to try to make up for this.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Josh)

Sorry, but with vacation and moving, I keep forgetting to get my pics together! But now that I'm back on track, I should be good to go!

So, backtracking a little bit, when I think of summer, the first thing that comes to mind is the 4th of July. It represents when people turn into the most summer-ish as possible with flippy-floppies, grilling, the beach, and last but not least, fireworks.

For the 5 years, my friends and I from college have rented a house in Bethany Beach, DE for the week of 4th of July. It's filled with the things above, and therefore I'd like to give a few shots that I was able to gather up this year:

My old roommate Anthony and his wife Naomi during the fireworks on the beach:

The iconical clock on the boardwalk at Bethany Beach:

This year I noticed that it seems like the seagulls have made the top of the clock also the designated toilet.

Summer 06/14 - 06/20 (Pere)

To me summer in Virgina is crazy rains and awesome storm clouds with the sunset in the background....

When I think of summer, I think of a few things:

Flowers

Dogs

Being able to leave the office and catching the sunset:

and the softball:

PS. ISO6400 is incredible with the sun goes down.

Frames May 05/31 - 06/06 (Sara)

I don't know whether the interest is dwindling in photography or if this topic was just really hard.. Even mine is really late, but it's okay!

Anyway, I had taken a picture, but I like this one better. My friend since middle school just recently got married and I had the honor of being in her wedding. Of course that means I couldn't take pictures, but Jeff did a good job taking what he could (I asked him to take a shot of them hugging the parents, and kissing). I was going to crop out the heads of this picture, but I like how they are framing Tinah & Tom (the head on the far right is a little too close but whatever):

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Josh)

I went to Puerto Rico for an extended Memorial Day weekend for a quick vacation. One thing I forgot to check beforehand and that we then found out was that it's currently the rainy season. Luckily our activities didn't exist around nice weather.

However, the two times that we walked around Old Town San Juan it wouldn't stop raining and thunder-storming. This ended up giving me some cool skies to work with, as in this one taken in one of the numerous park squares scattered throughout the fortified old city.

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Sara)

I usually love taking black and white pictures! I don't know what happened these past 2 weeks, but I may end up editing this post later on in the week. Anyway, this past weekend, I was running, and it was so hot that I ended up getting easily distracted by numerous things. One thing that distracted me was this enormous dandelion looking plant

I wish I could have taken a better picture of it because it was enooooormous (the fuzzy part was like 3 of my fists) but I only had my iphone w/ me because who wants to carry an 8 lbs weight when running in 90 degree weather? Anyway, I might go back and take a walk w/ my camera to get this big boy again... :)

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Pere)

Last night whilst watching the Lakers game, Maraea and I noticed that outside we had a bit of a show in the form of an electric storm. We decided to put the tripod up and try some luck...

It took many attempts and a few "Ohhhh almost!"

But we finally caught one!

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Jaime)

I've been taking pictures around the house now that we are in "decorating mode". I liked this one when I turned it into B&W.

Black and White 05/17 - 05/23 (Mel)

I set my camera to black and white this weekend and took several pictures

This is a Chinese doll found in a souvenir store and was my favorite

Fruit 05/10 - 05/16 (Pere)

Ups sorry for the late submission :(

And yes Josh tomatoes are a fruit! Look it up!

Progression in the life of a tomato, since our house has become alive with plants I decided to capture a tomato in four different stages, growing from seed, green, Cherry and plum and in ketchup form

Fruit 05/10 - 05/16 (Mel)

For this week, I visited the fruit shop in front of the office looking for some exotic fruit to photograph but I couldn't really find anything that amazing so here is the pic of the fruit store and people buying fruit

The most interesting thing I found was this fruit-store-cat that likes to sleep in a box of Mangoes.

Fruit 05/10 - 05/16 (Sara)

Did I get the days wrong? I typically don't post first (because of laziness) and copy the title from someone else, but this time no one posted yet.. oh well. I'm sure if it's wrong, Josh will fix it.

Anyway, I didn't really know what I wanted to do with this week's topic, and I didn't want to take a cliche picture of a still-life fruit painting. That being said, I still feel like my photo is a bit uninspired and boring, but whatever. Jeff and I didn't know his countertop was this reflective!
